Every Friday at 1300 hours, Tally-Ho Corner’s cleverest clogs come together to solve a ‘foxer’ handcrafted by my sadistic chum and colleague, Roman. A complete ‘defoxing’ sometimes takes several days and usually involves the little grey cells of many readers. Don’t be shy. All are welcome to participate.
To fully defox the following geofoxer, identify all twelve locations plus the theme that links them.

D – Bargate Street, Southampton (link to Google Maps)
The character looking over the wall is John le Flemyng who was MP for and mayor of Southampton in the late thirteenth and early fourteenth century.
Victor Fleming was the main director of Wizard of Oz
E is the Observatoire du Puits Minier in Val-des-Sources/Asbestos, Quebec

C is one of the Sphinxes at the Liberty Memorial in Kansas City, Missouri. It’s a memorial to the WWI dead, if that is useful.
J looks like the elevators at the Mercedes-Benz museum in Stuttgart, but I haven’t found the exact image yet.
You can see the plane and ceiling here here if you look up – https://www.google.com/maps/@48.78815,9.23405,3a,75y,72.3h,145.29t/data=!3m8!1e1!3m6!1sAF1QipNBzIGZHzZ-qajmGAhi8kXKakScy__SpZKrtkPf!2e10!3e11!6shttps:%2F%2Flh5.googleusercontent.com%2Fp%2FAF1QipNBzIGZHzZ-qajmGAhi8kXKakScy__SpZKrtkPf%3Dw203-h100-k-no-pi0-ya284.41922-ro-0-fo100!7i8704!8i4352
Actress Mercedes McCambridge once owned one of Dorothy’s dresses from the film

Roman was unaware of the Mercedes McCambridge link to the Wizard of Oz movie, but is happy to accept it.
H – Toto museum, Kitakyushu (link to Google Maps)
“Displaying the evolution of toilets”
Seems TOTO is a long-standing (pun unintended) manufacturer of ceramic toilets and their modern Japanese updates.
(This might not be relevant to the theme).
I haven’t managed to identify any more, but in case it helps anyone:
I think the cars at the back of F are Daimler double-sixes from around 1930.
Going by the road sign, K is in Japan.
Update: Gottem!
F – Coventry Transport Museum

The car on the right was Queen Mary’s, in case that’s relevant.
https://www.transport-museum.com/visiting/queen-marys-daimler.aspx
The car with the pixellated number-plate is GVS224, a Hillman WIZARD:

(The motorcycle/sidecar combination nearer the camera is Triumph CSD 550CC + Gloria Number 9:

I think we may have a Wizard of Oz theme!
The TOTO museum
ASBESTOS was used for fake snow in the film
I don’t think we’re in KANSAS any more…
Coventry and Stuttgart were both pretty well flattened by WW2 bombing, and I expect Southampton was, but I have no idea where Kansas City would come in.
Kitakyushu was the original target of the Nagasaki bomb, though, so it’s not impossible that I’m onto something…
Or maybe we aren’t in Kansas any more.
Indeed 😀 We’ve had bombs before, I think.
F. Hillman WIZARD (comment in moderation)
I reckon A. could be just an abandoned TIN mine in Cornwall = TIN-MAN
There’s a stronger link, but you’ll need to identify the mine to find it.
Ah. A is the Ding Dong mines pumping house (link to Google Maps).
L – E Wisconsin Avenue, Oconomowoc (link to Google Maps), at Oz Plaza with a Wizard of Oz mural.
G – Santa Rosa Island
(Channel Island of California) MUNCHKIN dudleya, plant species endemic to the island
I – Burlington Union Station: https://goo.gl/maps/9kSJ2qwBGiR62UND6
“Four steel statues of WINGED MONKEYS sit on the roof of Union Station.
“Two were originally commissioned in 1976 for a local waterbed store, named “Emerald City” after the capital city of the fictional Land of Oz. They were purchased by Main Street Landing to add “whimsy and fun” to the building and were installed in June 1997. Two “babies” were added in 2004.”
K – Nagaro Scarecrow Village: https://goo.gl/maps/PbyewfByf5RMyXfW9
B – Docklands Stadium, Melbourne, Australia: https://goo.gl/maps/nygnc5VxFJXbReC48
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Docklands_Stadium
“currently known by naming rights sponsorship as MARVEL Stadium” = Professor MARVEL, charlatan fortune teller
I think I got the remaining ones in the last minute, did I skip any?
