Bounce the Bogen: Turn 35

Assuming that suspiciously huge woodpile by the station isn’t a Tiger about to shed an inspired disguise, or that weird waspish whine audible over the dwindling rattle of battle isn’t the sound of a Staffel of bomb-laden Stormvogels bearing down on Nottingheim at 500+ mph, the final turn of 2025/26’s play-by-comment CM marathon should be plain sailing for the Bogen bouncers.

Unlike the SS fanatics that crossed paths with Costner’s men near the KOed 88, the dog-ends of Sicherung squads and gun crews that start Turn 35 underway and under fire in Nottingheim, seem strangely reluctant to surrender. Judging from their trajectories, these reckless retreaters are either aiming to vanish into the reedbeds that fringe the village’s carp larder, or melt into the dense woodland that overlaps the map’s eastern edge.

With Allied rifle and MG fire emanating from a host of Nottingheim’s buildings, a vigilant Sherman rumbling down main street, and one group of Tommy infantry (Sgt. Greenwood’s squad) in active pursuit, it’s little wonder most of these dashing Feldgrau figures have been transformed into stationary, sky-contemplating corpses by the time the clock stops for the last time.

No-one could deny that the Bogen has been well and truly bounced (Well done, SunderLad and Colonel_K!). However, what you won’t discover until the AAR/award ceremony, is what the supercritical Game Master made of the Allied and Axis performance, and which units secured titles such as ‘Most Destructive’, ‘Least Effective’, and ‘Luckiest’. Tune in next Monday for detailed post-match analysis and – assuming I pull my finger out – a download that will allow curious CMBO-owning bystanders to try Bounce the Bogen for themselves.
