Roman blew the dust off his 1952 Lugg & Lewis vulpograph yesterday. The result is a trad geofoxer with a ********* flavour. Below the break you’ll also find a Vera-style brainteaser set by a reader. Veteran defoxer Aergistal challenges you to geo-locate a stretch of blacktop that starred in an iconic 90s game cinematic.
Roman’s foxer (To fully defox, identify all twelve locations plus the theme that links them):

Aergistal’s foxer (“Pinpoint the exact location of the race between the Italdesign Cala and the Jaguar XJ220 from the FMV intro of Need for Speed II (1997)” ):

Conversely H. is considerably less convoluted in the old Hockney Diming Clang:
‘Battle’ is short for BATTLECRUISER = Boozer (pub)
B – Wynwood Walls, mural depicting a FRIGATE bird.
H – The GALLEY Restaurant, Topsham on FERRY road.
The race is still on for The Need For Speed foxer !
I doubt I’m going to get much closer than Sardinia, probably the north-east quarter.

The race itself is shot in at least two places:
it starts on a sloping straight of black tarmac with road markings amongst hills
it ends with them on orange-grey tarmac with no road markings and sea visible when they enter ludicrous speed
(Spaceballs 2: The New One announced for 2027)
There are at least 4 different locations shown during the race, not counting the 2 from the showcase:
– start line near a building and a tree
– somewhere en-route with mountains and electricity poles visible in the background
– bends
– finish line near the sea
I’ve got the exact placement of two of them and have a potential match for the third. I’ll post my solutions next Friday.
Nevermind, I also have the finish, the exact electricity pole is still there. The hint is clear as day.
