Solo Foxer #126

Unlike the formidable Friday foxers, the Monday kind are designed with lone truth sleuths in mind. While Roman, my Chief Foxer Setter, would be very interested to know how long it takes you to defox today’s brainteaser, he requests that the comments section isn’t used to share solutions or drop hints.

“Where am I?”

Using the following clues (the map above is purely decorative) in combination with Street View (all Solo Foxer solutions are Street Viewable), MAPfrappe, and other online tools, work out my location. The answer will appear under next Monday’s solo foxer.

Today I’m standing next to a Honda CR-V in a US state that has a Democratic governor, one word on its flag, and a picture of a synagogue on its Wikipedia page. Around 3.5km from a landmark that has appeared on a 25c coin, I’m a three-minute drive from a fruity beach. The nearest lighthouse is about 1.75 miles away and is under 40 feet in height. The nearest tenaille is slightly closer than the nearest golf course bunker.

You’re probably in the right place if you can see…

  • The emblem of the USMC
  • The words ‘DURHAM SCHOOL SERVICES’
  • The letters ‘SLU’
  • A cornerless building
  • A parking bay for disabled drivers
  • A road that shares a name with a road in SE4, London
  • The number ‘1955’
  • No pedestrians

I’m not in Pont-à-Mousson.

(Last week I was here)

    • … which is a good thing. It meant I didn’t spend a big chunk of my uk bank holiday on it. It still took about half an hour, which is about the perfect time on the effort/reward scale for me.

      No pedestrians ahoy!!

  1. ‘1955’ ahoy!
Needed to abandon an incorrect fruity beach before I found this one. I admire Roman’s ability to identify emblems in these situations.
