At first glance the two circles in the flight game – puzzle game Venn diagram appear to touch rather than overlap. However, peer closely and there is in fact a common sliver – a common sliver populated by novel noodle warmers such as The Airflow Trials.
In the fun demo for this upcoming drone game, quadcopters are indestructible problem-solving tools rather than frenetic aerobats or predatory lethal weapons. You use them to lift, nudge, activate, and rotate items in colourful, artfully contrived environments.
As the puzzle in the trial is a complex multi-stage affair mostly free of intelligence-insulting signposts, progress is very satisfying.
There’s plenty of encouragement to reconnoitre as well as experiment. What object can I use to depress that switch? Where does that power cable go? If I peep through this window, can I learn anything useful?
If all the challenges in the full game are as cunningly crafted as the one in the taster, I’ll definitely be participating in The Airflow Trials when the time comes.
