Q2U

Q is for Quick tea card. Card no. 17 in ‘Locomotives’, a 25-card set issued by Barbers Teas of Birmingham in 1956, features Cock o’ the North, the first of Nigel Gresley’s striking but flawed P2s. Like the other five members of her class, she was rebuilt as an A2/2 a decade after entering service. Although no P2 made it into preservation, thanks to the Doncaster P2 Locomotive Trust and the A1 Steam Locomotive Trust, one day there may be two of these powerful 2-8-2s running on British rails.

R is for Realistic rangefinding

In June 1940 the Scharnhorst wrote herself into naval history by scoring a gun hit on HMS Glorious at a range of approximately sixteen miles. The latest video from the chap behind upcoming naval sim Battleship Command sheds light on the equipment and procedures that made such amazing marksmanship possible.

S is for Simmier flight models and smarter foes

Red Baron-reminiscent Blue Sky Aces looks to be maturing nicely. As well as strengthening FMs, adding aircraft and animations, and teaching silicon pilots to value altitude and avoid stalls and gun jams, Curious Dog have been designing bally clever mapmaking tools.

T is for Truck World: Australia trial close

Truck sim connoisseur Roane Gaming isn’t completely sold on TWA’s steering, physics, and audio, but overall seems impressed by the beta, and the project’s direction of travel:

“The driving physics and overall feel is not there yet but with each patch and update it’s getting closer. I have experience driving trucks IRL and the closest I have come to the feel of driving a real truck in a simulator is in ATS and ETS 2. Truck World Australia while good is not at that standard yet.”

U is for Undaunted and JYDGE unavailable

For reasons know only to Osprey Games, Undaunted Normandy is no longer purchasable on Steam. Last December, developer Bookmark Games learned that their licence agreement would end at the start of 2025, meaning they could no longer sell or update the Early Access project. Unless the piscivores have a prettier or less buggy port in the works, withdrawing the licence seems an odd move.

Also delisted fairly recently was JYDGE, a top-down sci-fi shooter that passed a 3×3 audition with flying colours in March, 2023. Jydging by the somewhat confusing statement on the official site

“We received a complaint about the game in its previous form, but we were able to resolve it amicably by agreeing to make a few changes. The game has now been removed from sale on all platforms.”

…10ton may have had a run-in with Rebellion Developments’ lawyers.
