Using the following clues (the map above is purely decorative) in combination with Street View, work out my location.
Although Roman, THC’s chief puzzlewright, would be interested to know how long it takes you to solve this solo foxer, he’d rather you didn’t put spoilers or solutions in the comments.
Today I’m in an English town that possesses a pier and an RNLI lifeboat station. The town’s football club has an avian nickname and plays in a seventeen-club league in the eleventh tier of English football. Roughly 240m from a London landmark and 620 metres from a bandstand, I’m in a constituency that has been represented by seven different MPs since the end of WW2. Five of these MPs were Conservative , two were Labour, and none were women. The nearest ‘county town’ is about 22 miles away, has a photo of a hypocaust on its Wikipedia page, and, like the town I’m in, is mentioned in an episode of Fawlty Towers.
You are probably in the right place if you can see…
- A seal
- A tabard
- A STIHL chainsaw
- A Smith’s LT11 crane
- A diver lift
- A park named after a consort
- A dog poo bin
- A down that makes me think of a British scifi writer
- A winged lamppost
- The words ‘SLIPPERY STEPS’
(Last week I was here)
STIHL ahoy!
It took me around 40 minutes.
Winged lamppost ahoy! Took me about an hour this time
Slippery steps ahoy! I got the rough location quickly but took a while to find the precise spot.
