Today I’m in a town with a name that’s an anagram of ‘super alkali’. The town is in a state that was conquered in the first half of December 1941. The state is in a country that has felines and bladed weapons on its coat of arms, and a picture of a female freedom fighter on its Wikipedia page. A twenty minute walk from the nearest police station, and a twenty minute drive from the nearest railway station, I’m around a kilometre from a big crustacean and twenty miles from a bigger raptor. The spot you are searching for is equilatitudinous with three landlocked African countries and an African reservoir that contains more water than Lake Nasser.
