Unlike the formidable Friday foxers, the Monday kind are designed with lone truth sleuths in mind. While Roman, my Chief Foxer Setter, would be very interested to know how long it takes you to defox today’s brainteaser, he requests that the comments section isn’t used to share solutions or drop hints.
“Where am I?”
Using the following clues (the map above is purely decorative) in combination with Street View (all Solo Foxer solutions are Street Viewable), MAPfrappe, and other online tools, work out my location. The answer will appear under next Monday’s solo foxer.
Today you’ll find me in a village transformed during the last quarter of the 20th Century. I’m standing close to a car that is at least 63 years old. The car is parked on a road that’s unsuitable for HGVs and isn’t topped with tarmac. The nearest Indian restaurant is due north of my location and is named after a city. The country you are seeking has a unicameral legislature, a higher GDP than any of its neighbours, and pictures of an amphibious assault ship, a cat, and a women’s rights march on its Wikipedia page. Equilatitudinous with a thorn-shaped island with an eponymous cheese, a history of whaling, and a population of around 8000, I’m roughly 508 miles from the nearest operational nuclear power plant. Said plant is in a landlocked country.
You’re probably in the right place if you can see…
- Two hens
- A dead tree
- Roses
- Solar panels
- A security camera
- A white Ford Transit
- The words “Pomegranete” and “BALLOON”
- The name of a Greek goddess
I’m not in Pont-à-Mousson.
(Last week I was here)
Pomegranete ahoy! About 15 minutes this week.
Two hens ahoy! Longer for me.
This week I did like the way that once you had the Wikipedia page for the country there was no doubt that was correct and the solving could move onto the village location without those nagging doubts you had the wrong country/continent.
Thanks Roman.
