Unlike the formidable Friday foxers, the Monday kind are designed with lone truth sleuths in mind. While Roman, my Chief Foxer Setter, would be very interested to know how long it takes you to defox today’s brainteaser, he requests that the comments section isn’t used to share solutions or drop hints.
“Where am I?”
Using the following clues (the map above is purely decorative) in combination with Street View (all Solo Foxer solutions are Street Viewable), MAPfrappe, and other online tools, work out my location. The answer will appear under next Monday’s solo foxer.
Today you’ll find me in a country that has a smaller population than Taranto and a longer coastline than Lithuania. I’m on a one-way street in a small town. The town shares its name with a composer and an occupation. A stone’s throw from a school and 400 metres from a natural wonder, I’m about 10 kilometres from an Elton John song. The closest Commonwealth country is 791 km away, and has sent two female athletes to the current Commonwealth Games. At this latitude there are three countries that begin with the same letter as the country I’m in. At this longitude there are three countries that begin with the same letter as the country I’m in. The banknotes used hereabouts have birds on them.
You’re probably in the right place if you can see…
- Two lions
- Leonardo
- Michelangelo
- Sleeping policemen
- A Volvo S40
- The words ‘ALL OVER THE WORLD’
I’m not in Pont-à-Mousson.
(Last week I was here)
Two lions ahoy! This one was fun, thanks!
After realising a certain terminological difference between Roman and I, I quickly narrowed down the country, town (with the help of a classical music website) and then school. I then proceeded to “walk” straight past the location several times, circle the block, look for other schools in the area, and go back to where I started before finally noticing Leonardo and Michelangelo. Doh!
