Friday Foxer #63

Every Friday at 1300 hours, Tally-Ho Corner’s cleverest clogs come together to solve a ‘foxer’ handcrafted by my sadistic chum and colleague, Roman. A complete ‘defoxing’ sometimes takes several days and usually involves the little grey cells of many readers. Don’t be shy. All are welcome to participate.

To fully defox the following geofoxer, identify all twelve locations plus the theme that links them.

  1. Watson and Stapleton would suggest ‘The Hound of the Baskervilles’. Here’s hoping that’s a mic drop moment.

    • Plus the island next to Christchurch bridge is Fry’s Island – Stephen Fry played Jeeves in Jeeves and Wooster, another assistant

      • Mind you, Stephen Fry also read an audiobook version of Hound of the Baskervilles, so all still to play for.

  2. i. is somewhere on eBART, the extension of Bay Area Rapid Transit outside of San Francisco. Not sure which station yet, if that’s important.
I believe the trains are Stadler GTW coupled pairs (even less likely to be important).

  3. The stripy oval traffic light in J might put it in the Netherlands, but that’s as far as I’ve got!

  4. E is an alameda, which is apparently Spanish for a tree-lined boulevard. Don’t know where it is though, but the lack of specific details made me think it might not be the actual location that’s the clue.

  5. Similarly, no particular clue on C.

It appears to be facing south, and there’s a comment-worthy long breakwater or something. Is it the base of a monument to some sort of surveyor’s tool?

    • It’s a bit like some views of Chesil Beach, but it’s not that. Definitely looks like it’s marking the centre point of something…

    • Whoa, I was way off with Rouen on that one… bus must be a hand-me-down. How did you find it, by the way?

      • I am also interested to know how Aergistal always seems to wrap up the geofoxers pretty quickly on a Saturday – they’re like some omnipotent god that allows us mortals to have our fun on a Friday before tidying everything up the next day.

        • Sorry to disappoint you but it’s only image search this time. It’s a bit scary when you think how much it improved over the last years.

Out of all the unsolved entries I only managed to place J in the Netherlands thanks to the particular traffic light design.

If image search failed I could’ve brute-force the town sign since in Netherlands they use a single typeface for these: ANWB-Ee since the ’60s.
