Friday Foxer #210

This week’s handmade co-op puzzle won’t defox itself. If you’re a dab hand at quizzes, lateral thinking, and search engine sleuthing, why not help out.

Roman, THC’s Chief Foxer Setter, is old enough to remember the days when there were Cheryls and Paulas in most classrooms, and highwaymen still plied their trade along the A303. He also recalls the time when all Friday Foxers were collage foxers.

  1. Map on the bottom left corner is a magnetic anomaly. There is two: the Bangui magnetic anomaly in central Africa and the Kursk magnetic anomaly in eastern Europe.

So Bangui, capital of Central African Republic

  2. The dog in the bottom center is the Dogcow, created by Susan Kare as the glyph for “z”. It is part of the Cairo font.

    So Cairo, capital of Egypt.

Also, I doubt that the ship in the top right corner is City of Cairo.

  3. Still missing:
    – Boat on the top right corner. Not sure which part of the ship it is.
    – The man (a sniper?) in bottom right corner. Could be a picture of war or a movie poster.
