Solo Foxer #116

Unlike the formidable Friday foxers, the Monday kind are designed with lone truth sleuths in mind. While Roman, my Chief Foxer Setter, would be very interested to know how long it takes you to defox today’s brainteaser, he requests that the comments section isn’t used to share solutions or drop hints.

“Where am I?”

Using the following clues (the map above is purely decorative) in combination with Street View (all Solo Foxer solutions are Street Viewable), MAPfrappe, and other online tools, work out my location. The answer will appear under next Monday’s solo foxer.

Today I’m standing on an endless road in front of a building that has a large picture of an astronaut on one if its sides. Most of the vehicles in view are white in colour. Just over a kilometre from a UNESCO World Heritage Site, roughly 1.3 miles from an outdoor climbing wall, and approximately 59 kilometres from an eerie observatory, I’m closer to a hospital than I am to a petrol station. The national football team supported hereabouts wears kit made by Jako, and scored three goals in their last match. Equilatitudinous with two US states that have names ending with ‘s’, I’m equilongitudinous with two landlocked countries both of which have yellow stripes on their flag.

You’re probably in the right place if you can see…

  • Swing seats
  • Spiral topiary
  • A silver Jeep Wrangler
  • Two forklifts
  • A Union Jack
  • A flyover named after a Frenchman
  • A ‘no cycling’ sign
  • The word ‘MODERN’ and the word ‘ISTANBUL’

I’m not in Pont-à-Mousson.

(Last week I was here)

  1. “ISTANBUL” ahoy! A bit tricky this week due to a number of false starts. About 45 minutes total.

  2. Astronaut ahoy! After a few Solo Foxers in a row that either eluded me, or I was very close to but couldn’t quite find the exact position, it feels good to get one. Found the city and flyover fairly easily but took a bit longer to nail down all the elements.
