Every Friday at 1300 hours, Tally-Ho Corner’s cleverest clogs come together to solve a ‘foxer’ handcrafted by my sadistic chum and colleague, Roman. A complete ‘defoxing’ sometimes takes several days and usually involves the little grey cells of many readers. Don’t be shy. All are welcome to participate.
The honeycomb below is a fancy form of wordsearch in which every cell is used, and words can curl and zigzag but never overlap. Each hive foxer has a theme (some past ones: owls, rugby, Egypt…). Identifying the theme is a vital part of the defoxing process. Today’s puzzle is composed of 17 answers.

SOLUTIONS
Last week’s geofoxer theme: ice (defoxed by ylla)
a) Brevik – once an export centre for ice (gusdownnup)
b) London Canal Museum – former ice store (Electric Dragon)
c) Trotsky’s house, Mexico City
d) Krasin – an icebreaker (Phlebas)
e) Tower of London moat – site of ice rink (Colonel_K)
f) Perito Moreno glacier (gusdownnup)
g) La Plagne bobsleigh track (Electric Dragon)
h) Grimsby ice factory (Colonel_K)
i) Ice Blast ride, Blackpool (fitzevan, Electric Dragon)
j) Ice hotel in Jukkasjärvi (Phlebas)
k) Vivekanadar Ilam – former ice store (gusdownnup, Viscount)
l) Leeuwarden – start and end point of the Elfstedentocht (Viscount, ylla)
Good luck, peeps. I guess we’ll find out if we’re Wagatha Christie-class.
[quick note: captaincabinets came in with a late defox on Trotsky – he got an ice pick that made his ears burn]
Ohh, I was wondering whatever happened to him.
I don’t think I deserved the Leeuwarden credit, either – I got the connection but not the place. My sort-of-boss is Frisian and was very excited a few years back when someone was trying to swim the route!
Just throwing some random words out there to get the ball rolling.
C2 HOOK
C5 LOAF
F10 APEX
G4 ATTIC
K9 DOVE
L1 ROSE
L7 HEATH
Evidently i’m struggling to get over 4 letters today.
E8 COMMODE
F2 HATTER
If APEX is correct, it leaves that S in the corner, which could only really fit SNORE/D or MONS. Otherwise that X could be part of SEXED.
Not many unusual letters to work round this week.
There is also G11 CODEX, but I can’t find anything sensible around that.
Another option G12 XCOM, H10 DRONE and F11 PAUSES, but I don’t see any obvious connection there either.
L 1 – ROSWELL … L 8 – THE HORDE
or
L2 – TESLA .. E11 – SPACEX .. leaves E12 : NSE (National Stock Exchange ??)
E11 – SURINAM
Probably not.
B5 – MUFON, which, with ROSWELL and some of the others may point to a UFO link
also C6 – SAUCER
A2 – KLAATU. Surely it’s flying saucery
H7 – LENTICULAR CLOUD
G7 – UMMO
C3 – FOO FIGHTER/S
E1 – ARIEL SCHOOL
C8 – MANISES
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manises_UFO_incident
H3. TIC TAC … UFO videos, a colloquial term to refer to the Pentagon UFO videos
E10 – UAP, which makes XCOM good. (unidentified aerial phenomenon)
The presence of ALLEN HYNEK from J6 raises the prospect that ROSWELL is a red herring.
L8 – TODMORDEN, which is a UFO hotspot on the Yorkshire – Lancashire border but I believe also means “death murder” in German.
Believe both the ALLEN in ALLEN HYNEK and the ROSWELL might be red herrings but I’m in a bit of a jumble and it’s tea time.
No references I can see so far to the Gerry Anderson TV series ‘UFO’. For shame!
M7. HEAVEN’S GATE (ends at K3.)- UFO religion/cult
Definitely disposes of Allen, IMO.
ETA: L3. WESTALL … UFO was a reported UFO sighting in Australia that occurred on 6 April 1966 in Melbourne, Victoria.
L5. RHODES … UFO photos, sometimes called the shoe-heel UFO photos, refers to two photos that were reportedly taken on July 7, 1947 by William A. Rhodes.
Disposes of Roswell.
ETFA: WEATHER BALLOONS! It should all be weather balloons.
H4. MILTON TORRES – U.S. Air Force fighter pilot who while in U.K. air space was instructed to open fire on a large UFO. His case was top secret until the MOD released the … (1957, East Anglia)
Means it’s Foo Fighter singular.
