Where am I?

Using the following clues (the map above is purely decorative) in combination with Street View, work out my location.

Although Roman, THC’s chief puzzlewright, would be interested to know how long it takes you to solve this solo foxer, he’d rather you didn’t put spoilers or solutions in the comments.

Today, you could say I’m in an edible town. The town’s Wikipedia page includes a photo of an amusing signpost. Less than a kilometre from Spitfire Road, I’m in a county that last won cricket’s County Championship in a year when the Booker Prize went to a novel that had a famous woodblock print on the cover of its first edition. The local MP is a Tory who made his maiden speech when Margaret Thatcher was PM. Closer to a railway station and a fire station than a public swimming pool, I’m roughly two kilometres from a Roman remnant that baffled antiquarians for centuries.

You are probably in the right place if you can see…

  • Bunting
  • Jetties
  • Union Jacks
  • A box junction
  • A birch tree
  • A Piaggio Ape
  • Malt shovels
  • A night safe
  • Art Deco architecture
  • A house built in the 18th Century
  • The words ‘no return’
  • The words ‘DENCH’ and ‘JACOBI’

(Last week I was here)
