Where am I?

Using the following clues (the map above is purely decorative) in combination with Street View, work out my location.

Although Roman, THC’s chief puzzlewright, would be interested to know how long it takes you to solve this solo foxer, he’d rather you didn’t put spoilers or solutions in the comments.

Today, I’m on an island and, in a sense, in an amphibian. On a road that’s over 4500 miles long, I’m a quarter-of-an-hour drive from a bridge that’s longer than the Glasgow Subway, and a ten-minute saunter from a shop that sells, amongst other things, pliers and worms. The country you are seeking uses a currency that’s currently worth around 56 UK pence, and its army operates German-made tanks. Closer to an ice rink than a church, I’m NNW of the nearest lighthouse.

You are probably in the right place if you can see…

  • Long shadows
  • Disintegrating tarmac
  • The word ‘Cavendish’
  • A white picket fence
  • A red Toyota Hilux belonging to a ‘transparent physician’
  • The words ‘PANCAKE BREAKFAST’
  • The words ‘COLD DRINKS WARM ATMOSPHERE’

(Last week I was here)
