Where am I?

Using the following clues (the map above is purely decorative) in combination with Street View and tools such as MAPfrappe, work out my location.

Today I’m in a settlement with a memorable two-word name (both words can be found in the first-half of an English dictionary). About five miles from the shore of the nearest B.O.T., I’m on a narrow road probably named after a plant genus. The road has no road markings, pavement, or street lights. A stone’s throw from a tennis court, a solar panel array, and a property that takes its name from a Charles Dickens novel, I’m in a (de facto) colony. That colony’s Danish links explain the name of its capital (a city of around 14500 people that, unless I was a very strong/confident swimmer, I couldn’t reach without the aid of a boat or aeroplane). I’m equilongitudinous with a strait named after a man who circumnavigated the globe in the 17th Century, and equilatitudinous with a country that hit the headlines in late July.
