Unlike the formidable Friday foxers, the Monday kind are designed with lone truth sleuths in mind. Roman, my Chief Foxer Setter, assures me the following brainteaser can be solved single-handedly. I’m standing outside an ice cream parlour that’s named after a fruit. The parlour is on a tree-lined street named after a US president. I share latitude with one of the world’s longest railway tunnels, a US state with a smaller population than Rotterdam, and an island that’s also a PC game. I’m 30 metres from a statue of an armed man and 260 metres from a parliament building. I’m in a tramless metropolis that has a twin city in common with Brno. There are as many vowels in the name of that metropolis as there are consonants. I’m in a country that has never won a medal at a Winter Olympics or hosted a Formula 1 Grand Prix. I’m 19 miles from an international ferry port. I share longitude with five landlocked countries. I’m not in Pont-à-Mousson.
