Friday Foxer #253

This week’s handmade co-op puzzle won’t defox itself. If you’re a whizz at quizzes, lateral thinking, and search engine sleuthing, why not lend a hand.

To fully defox the following geofoxer, identify all twelve locations plus the theme that links them.

Beatrice Shilling had a part in designing the Merlin engine used in Spitfires, and more besides

  7. I think theme is currency.

The PULA is the currency of Botswana, the KIP is the currency of Laos, and several African nations have SHILLING as theirs.

  9. F. Guatemalan QUETZAL
Kinetic sculpture from 1988 by Antonio M. Santonja, Plaza de Europa, Zaragoza

I thought from the GeoFoxer that it was quite large and far away. No. It’s quite small and on the bridge.

  10. Re: C.
    The propaganda poster suggests Vietnam.
My feeling is that the plane is a MiG-21 (or Chengdu J-7) as that green tab on the tailplane is quite common, however no other insignia are visible on the tail.
I suspect the fencing is meant to represent a lotus flower.

All that said, I don’t think this is closer or further away than any other MiG-21 on a plinth:
