In a couple of weeks’ time millions of freshly unfurled beech leaves will render OP Foxtrot useless as a news gathering vantage point. Until that green explosion happens, I’ll continue to traipse up there every morning with my binoculars, notebook, inflatable cushion, and flask of tea.
Today, while sat amongst the primroses, I watched through my field glasses as Johan Nagel wheeled out the trailer for Northern Ireland ’74.
I witnessed Radian Simulations pull the tarpaulin from an update that temporarily (?) turns Gunner, HEAT, PC! into a military tactics game. (With a more flexible camera, and a slightly expanded order palette, ‘RTS mode’ could, I reckon, garner quite a following).
I clocked a smiling Marco Amadei perusing the “overwhelmingly positive” Steam reviews for Shanghai – Nanking, the latest DLC for budget WW2 FPS, Easy Red 2.
I got my first glimpse of No Retreat! The Russian Front, an upcoming (ETA: June) PC port of an award-winning board wargame.
I observed Franzoar, the chap behind Kriegsspiel – 7 Years War, walloping some cod and having a light-hearted April 1st dig at Burden of Command.
And saw rubble-strewn tank sim Sherman Commander in motion for the first time.
I am beta testing Northern Ireland. That will be out in a few weeks. I am also beta testing Russian Front and it is coming along. The developer is very receptive to input and it is a worthy digital version of the boardgame.
🙂 Well seen for the April’s fool !
To be honest, I did not intend to make jokes about Burden of command (the game seems interesting, but I have not played it yet). The joke was rather on choices on visual novels that did not matter, and the fact that a game of kriegsspiel was at the opposite of a visual novel ;’) . Glad you have seen this video ! Thanks for having talked about it and … sorry if some jokes were poor (especially light infantry ninjas that were not clearly visible 😀 ) .
