Where am I?

Using the following clues (the map above is purely decorative) in combination with Street View, work out my location.

Although Roman, THC’s chief puzzlewright, would be interested to know how long it takes you to solve this solo foxer, he’d rather you didn’t put spoilers or solutions in the comments.

Today I’m in an area that would excite a malacologist. Closer to a coastline than an international border, I’m in a country that’s part of NATO, has a smaller population than Amsterdam, and a president born in the 1980s. On the country’s Wikipedia page you’ll find a photo of an unusual monastery. The euro is the official currency hereabouts. The nearest capital city has a stylish flag and no tram network, and was bombed by both Axis and Allied warplanes during WW2.

You are probably in the right place if you can see…

  • Ballast
  • Catenary
  • Islands
  • An ex-island
  • A water lily
  • A TAM 150
  • A silver Merc
  • A roadside memorial
  • A ‘no overtaking’ sign
  • A tunnel mouth
  • Red and white electricity pylons
  • Brown beer bottles
  • *a***t*** pelicans
  • The words ‘I LIVE HERE’
  • The word ‘POLICIJA’

(Last week I was here)
