Using the following clues (the map above is purely decorative) in combination with Street View, work out my location.
Although Roman, THC’s chief puzzlewright, would be interested to know how long it takes you to solve this solo foxer, he’d rather you didn’t put spoilers or solutions in the comments.
Today I’m in a slightly low res village that has a surname for a name. The nearest capital city has a smaller population than Penzance and a photo of a Chinese restaurant on its Wikipedia page. On Google Maps the closest international border is shown with a dashed line. The country you’re seeking gained independence in the year a US president was shot and a disaster in a hotel cost over 100 people their lives. The nearest UNESCO World Heritage Site is watery. You could say I’m around twenty miles from a historic English county and 59 kilometres from a landlocked Asian country.
You are probably in the right place if you can see…
- A machete
- A horse’s head
- An asterisk
- An extinct bird
- Two zebra crossings
- A Mazda pickup
- The sea
- A crate of beer
- Terry’s chainsaw?
- The words ‘JERK CHICKEN’
- The words ‘BE LEGAL’
- The word ‘Kismet’
(Last week I was here)
An extinct bird ahoy.
You could say I got it after an inordinate amount of time for reasons well known to Roman.
Terry’s chainsaw, ahoy! Took a few minutes to find the exact spot but otherwise this was a pretty quick one and an interesting location.
Now I want some of that jerk chicken.
I spy a crate of beer! Relatively quick in the end, after a reminder not trust Google’s AI output!
Kismet ahoy! I had the right general location early on but got stuck for an embarassing amount of time trying to match all the clues…
