Where am I?

Using the following clues (the map above is purely decorative) in combination with Street View, work out my location.

Although Roman, THC’s chief puzzlewright, would be interested to know how long it takes you to solve this solo foxer, he’d rather you didn’t put spoilers or solutions in the comments.

Today I’m standing close to a Transit van in a US city after which a dance was named. The city is in a state that borders two others. On a street that shares its name with an English poet, I’m a stone’s throw from a small museum. Less than 100 metres from a pair of large brick chimneys, approximately 150 metres from the nearest railway line, and roughly three kilometres from a CH-46, I’m a five minute walk from the nearest public swimming pool.

You are probably in the right place if you can see…

  • A suspension bridge
  • A pizza box
  • Decorative bargeboards
  • Dysfunctional gutters
  • Palm trees
  • An orange eatery
  • Old Glory
  • Horizontal ladders
  • The words ‘HOW’S MY DRIVING?’
  • The words ‘CAUTION: HIGH CURB’
  • A building where a famous protest song was sung for the first time

(Last week I was here)

  1. I finally got one, so it must have been too easy! I generally read your page from a smart phone, which means I’ve never been in a situation where I really have the time or screen space to sit and figure one of these out. Still I always enjoy reading every one and trying to figure out at least a few of the clues, and also the virtual tourism of checking out these corners of the planet that you find.

It actually only took me 5 minutes or so and a couple quick Google searches.

    It’s Pont-a-Mousson, right?
