The wallets of many digital wargamers will be feather light by the end of November if both Triassic Games and Veitikka Studios make their deadlines. Due next month, Armored Brigade 2 seems intent on occupying the sunlit uplands between playable, pacy military RTSs such as WARNO and Wargame and slower, denser, grog pleasers such as Combat Mission and Graviteam Tactics.
Peppered with tempting battle footage, the following overview vid suggests it’s going to be a Cold War tactician’s delight.
Pleasingly legible 3D graphics… air support and information dissemination improvements… an expanded seven nation unit database… new AI possibilities for scenario designers… fans of the original AB have good reason to be excited.

It’s been a spendy few weeks of wargaming already!
Armored Brigade is, despite the spelling, a game I want to spend more time with.
I probably never will now, because AB2 is new and shiny and I’m looking forward to playing it.
Everything will depend on the AI. And poor AI ruined AB1. We will see, but ever since I started playing computer wargames in 1983, I’ve been waiting for “great AI” to make an appearance. Still waiting…
