OVRLRD isn’t quite ready for keyboard mechwarriors yet

When developer Niall Slater fixed the bug that was preventing me and other keyboard & mouse users from starting up OVRLRD’s bipedal steeds, I jumped straight into a clickable cockpit and hotfooted it to the weapon range. Unfortunately, I’d only taken a few ground-shaking strides when I encountered another fun foiler – non-functional torso twist keys.

OVRLRD and its demo might not be quite ready for VR-less simmers yet, but most of the Early Access reviews that have appeared on Steam since the sim’s September 9 debut, are complimentary, suggesting that Niall is on the right track.

Impressed by the large venues, the destructible scenery, clickable cockpits, and detailed damage and systems modelling, the majority of early adopters seem willing to overlook rough edges and dated visuals.
