Using the following clues (the map above is purely decorative) in combination with Street View, work out my location.
Although Roman, THC’s chief puzzlewright, would be interested to know how long it takes you to solve this solo foxer, he’d rather you didn’t put spoilers or solutions in the comments.
Today I’m in a country that has sent more athletes to the 2024 Olympics than Great Britain. Rush Rally 3 players get to visit this country, as do Old School Rally ones. Scour the photos on the country’s Wikipedia page and you should be able to find a cartoon stag beetle. Closer to the nearest foreign country than the nearest capital city, I’m on an island that’s also a breed of dog and a breed of horse. A stone’s throw from a minesweeper commissioned in 2005, about 450 metres from the nearest tram stop, and 370 metres from an unusual park, I’m a thirty minute cycle ride from a form of fortification you might not expect to find in this part of the world.
You are probably in the right place if you can see…
- Anglers
- An observatory
- A bowsprit
- Bicycles
- A train ferry
- Wasp stripes
- The number ‘5500’
- The words ‘WISDOM LINE’
(Last week I was here)
Did I get it right? Sorry I’m new here, was I supposed to email you or did I do it wrong? First time I’ve supplied an answer to one of these, I enjoyed doing it! Btw I forgot to say it took me 23 minutes. The main bulk of the time was in finding the stag beetle (even though I had a hunch I had the correct country to begin with), but after that it didn’t take long after I knew which minesweeper to look for (thanks to my copy of Jane’s Fighting Ships), cheers!
No emails required, Clive. Solutions are posted a week later, under the next puzzle. If you can see all the things in the ‘You are probably in the right place…’ list it’s highly unlikely you’ve gone astray.
Ah I see, thank you and sorry for the email. I enjoyed it, looking forward to the next one!
About 30 min for me, took a long time to locate the minesweeper! Lucky enough to have visited here, so had all the other landmarks in hand!
